Craft a Brand Identity for a Family Estate on Chappaquiddick Island
The owners of 55 North Neck Road wanted to create a distinctive brand for their recently acquired estate on Chappaquiddick Island. The home’s most notable feature was a long wooden dock, where the couple would often find themselves sharing a bottle of wine and watching the sunset over the ocean. This evening ritual became the inspiration for the brand identity - a hand drawn image of a wooden dock pointing towards a setting sun. Rendered in an etched style, it artfully pays tribute to the island's storied sailing heritage, evoking a sense of nostalgia and timeless elegance.

Moodboard
The moodboard shows the family’s most notable memories at their summer estate; sailing off the back dock, gathering and eating fresh clams, and watching the sunset over the ocean.
Etching and engraving have been used historically to depict various themes, including maritime and nautical scenes. Artists may have created prints featuring sailing ships, seascapes, or coastal landscapes, reflecting the maritime culture of regions like New England.
Illustration Style
Inspired by family memories of enjoying sunsets off the back dock, we crafted an image to capture this nostalgic moment. We rendered the image in an etching style as a nod to the maritime history of the area. To give a greater sense of heritage we chose a more traditional serif typeface for the wordmark which was the address of the estate. The color palette was inspired by the blue ocean and the red and white tents outside Chappy Country Club, a famous country club down the road from the families home. With a diverse array of logo variations, we aimed to provide the family with versatile lockups suitable for various needs over the years to come.
